Defund the Oligarchy
On November 5, 2025, The Media Revolution (UK) launched the Media Liberation campaign, a movement that is bringing awareness to the rupture in the legacy mainstream news and media system. Now captured by corporate interests, major outlets omit and distort the truth on critical issues to protect their owners instead of doing their job to inform the people. To get the truth, we must turn to small independent outlets that are not in the stranglehold of the oligarchy and corporate propaganda.
In solidarity with Media Revolution, the Digital Exodus (the migration out of Big Tech monopolies like Meta, X, TikTok, Google, Amazon and Apple) is expanding to include the boycott of Big Media and Entertainment companies. We're calling it Delete the Oligarchy. The list of top U.S. offenders we're targeting include:
- Social Media complicit in behavioral control and data privacy violations:
- Meta - Facebook, Threads, Instagram, WhatsApp, Marketplace, Metaverse (Mark Zuckerberg; Peter Thiel was an early founder)
- X (Elon Musk)
- TikTok (Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle)
- Big Tech/Media complicit in military and privacy-invasive surveillance tech:
- Google - Gmail, Search, Chrome, YouTube, Docs/Drive/Meet (Sergey Brin/Larry Page - founders, Sundar Pichai - current CEO)
- Amazon - Prime, AWS, Washington Post, WholeFoods, Audible (Jeff Bezos)
- Big Media captured, biased, censoring, normalizing injustice, and refusing to speak the truth:
- Paramount, CBS (David Ellison)
- Disney (BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street)
- New York Times
- Wall Street Journal (Rupert Murdoch)
- Washington Post (Jeff Bezos)
Easy Steps to Take:
STEP 1: Create Your Bridge Social Account: Create a BlueSky and/or Mastadon account (This is to replace social accounts you leave, as well as a place to connect with others in the movement and share progress.)
STEP 2: Take weekly actions by taking a step towards migrating out of the Big Tech and Media Matrix. They can be small or big. For example:
STEP 3: Celebrate and Share about your progress on BlueSky and Mastadon with hashtags
STEP 2: Take weekly actions by taking a step towards migrating out of the Big Tech and Media Matrix. They can be small or big. For example:
- Phone clean up - Delete apps you don't use off your phone (delete accounts first if you plan to never use them again)
- De-activate Facebook for 3 months
- Create a post on TikTok about your plan to migrate off in three months (then work towards moving your audience)
- Delete X account never to return
- Set up a Discord group for moving your Facebook group to. Share with your FB group about your plans to reconnect there.
- Change from Chrome Browser to Firefox, Google Search to DuckDuckGo
- Even creating your Bridge Account counts as a step
STEP 3: Celebrate and Share about your progress on BlueSky and Mastadon with hashtags
- #DigitalExodus
- #DeletetheBroligarchy
- #MovementofthePeople
- #MediaRevolution
- #TheRevolutionWillNotBeMonetized
Quick Reference Table of Alternative Platforms
For the Adventurous: Enter the Fediverse
The Fediverse is a collection of social networking services that can communicate with each other using a common protocol.
- Mastodon.Social is similar to twitter and is one of the most widely used Fediverse platforms. You can log into other Fediverse platforms with your Mastodon account for viewing access, but does not let you post on them from Mastodon (yet) - to do that you need to create a separate account in each tool (e.g. PixelFed)
- Mo-Me is a social media site for independent media.
- PixelFed (photo sharing) and PeerTube (videos) for photo sharing are platform alternatives for people looking to leave Instagram, TikTok and Youtube forever.
