The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), also known as the "Social Murder Bill," is not a budget — it's a legal coup that turns the US into a dictatorship.

The GOP is abusing the budget reconciliation process to force through sweeping, irreversible changes to government structure, bypassing the filibuster and locking in authoritarian control with just 51 Senate votes instead of the normal 60 required for annual budgets or major laws.

At its core, the bill seeks to fast-track the goals of Project 2025 while evading public scrutiny. OBBBA:

• Slashes vital programs like SNAP, Medicaid, student aid, and Medicare — gutting protections for the poor, elderly, disabled, and young.
• Strips courts of their enforcement power, neuters consumer and environmental protections, guts air quality regulations, and declares AI and surveillance “national infrastructure,” banning regulation for a decade.

They are tying to get this passed by July 4th, before their August break. If this happens it will be the death blow to our democracy and the end of our social contract to right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

What Can be Done? 
Kill the Bill
The goal is for OBBBA to die on the senate floor with a firm unwavering majority block that will not budge. There is nothing good in the bill. There is no amendment that will make it palatable. The whole things needs to die.

This will require ensuring the swing Democrats do not defect, and win over swing Republicans like Murkowski and Collins.

Minimize Harm Using The Byrd Rule
But we also need to minimize harm and prioritize.  Some of the most devastating provisions in the bill are undeniably not budget related and do not belong in a reconciliation bill. This means the Byrd Rule can be applied to remove provisions, and it only requires 40 votes. Provisions we can apply it to include:

• Judicial Contempt Clause 

• 10 Year Ban on State Regulations of AI 
• Regulatory Rollback Clause  (aka "Weaponized Deregulation") 
• Deregulatory FastTrack 

Plan: June 17 - July 3
We must flood the phones over the next three weeks, relentlessly. Below are three call scripts. Depending on which Senators you have, choose one of them below. 

But don't stop there. Even if we don't live in the States where the swing voters are, we must call them, along with anyone that is on the Senate Budget Committee.

Script 1: For Democrats and Independents

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent calling about the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — also known as the Social Murder Bill that ends democracy.

This bill cannot pass, it must die on the Senate floor.

As you know, the bill contains provisions that have nothing to do with the budget — and do real harm to democracy, children, and working people.

Under the Byrd Rule, provisions that are “extraneous” to budget matters can and must be removed. It takes only 41 Senators to enforce this rule and protect the country.

We are urging you to demand the following 4 non-budget related provisions be struck immediately:

 1. Judicial Contempt Clause (Section 70302)

2. 10-Year Ban on State AI Regulation (Section 43201(c))

3. Regulatory Rollback Clauses - OBBBA includes “Reins Act–style riders”, which block agencies like the EPA, FDA, and DHS from creating major new protections—unless Congress approves them first. ➡️ This means even in an emergency, agencies can’t act unless both houses of Congress vote yes. It paralyzes our government’s ability to respond to corporate abuse, health threats, or environmental disasters. -> this is major policy precedent not budget or tax-related and does not belong in a reconciliation bill!

4.. Deregulatory Fast Track - OBBBA embeds the Congressional Review Act (CRA) into multiple sections of the bill, instructing agencies that rules may be subject to CRA disapproval. It expands the definition of “major rules” and resets timelines to maximize CRA applicability ➡️This means Congress can quickly cancel new protections—like worker safety or environmental rules—with a simple majority vote, no filibuster, and no chance to reissue similar rules. -> THIS IS NOT BUDGET RELATED!

Script 2: For Swing Democrats and Republicans

Tone: Calm, Respecive, Urgent

Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m urging Senator [Name] to vote against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — what many of us now call the Social Murder Bill.
This bill would devastate vulnerable Americans — stripping food, housing, and healthcare from those already barely surviving. It also guts essential checks on AI and judicial power.

This is a line-in-the-sand vote — not just about politics, but about the kind of future we want to live in.

You’ve shown independence before. Please do so now. Stand for life. Vote "no". Or be known as one of the senators who voted for social murder and the death of democracy.

Script 3: For  Republicans

Tone: Direct, confrontational, historic
This is [Your Name]. I’m calling to say clearly: If Senator [Name] votes for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — we will remember.

This bill is not governance. It is an act of social murder — knowingly sentencing millions to suffering and death while consolidating power for a ruling minority and leaving children unprotected by the dangers of AI for ten years. 

This is beyond austerity. Beyond negligence. People that vote for this bill will go down in history as child murderers.

This is your line in the sand. History will record how you acted.
